Preparedness list

I would love to have some input from my readers about what they include on their own disaster preparedness lists. I have large containers of drinking water, solar lights, candles, kerosene lamps, and extra rations of cat and dog food, canned foods for us, and an emergency stove for cooking.

Tell me what you include in your kits, whether it's Nautica watches, a NOAA weather radio, or extra thermal blankets. We can glean ideas from each other about things not ordinarily thought of.

I grew up in the Gulf South & take that kind of thing pretty seriously. My signature link goes to one of the posts I've written about emergency preparedness, from the viewpont of one who has been there and done that.

We live in an area that's affected by strong tornadoes, some of which are the direct result of hurricanes in the Gulf! We also tend to get more ice than snow in the winter, which many times means a loss of power. So, I try to stay prepared all year long.

One thing we also need besides those emergency preparedness kits are proper information that we can use during these emergencies.

It might be better to check your nearest International Air Ambulance Service just to make sure.
