What's happened to grammar?

I tell you what I think has happened to it. We aren't properly teaching it to our children. Even homeschoolers can sometimes think that grammar is secondary to some other subjects. I don't believe it is.

See, we speak and write English in this country, and since we do, it behooves us to teach it well to our children. There's nothing sorrier than to hear or read the writing of an individual who lacks some skills in grammar and spelling. Regardless of how educated they may be, poor grammar can make them seem like a dolt.

When we still homeschooled, we used Daily Grammar emailed lessons. (You can also download and print the lessons from the website.) They are wonderful and just challenging enough to be useful.
