Historical biographies
Reading and reporting on biographies can be pretty dry. But when those same famous biographies are associated with history and events, it becomes more interesting.
The U.S. has many famous people who have played important roles in shaping our history. From Rocky Patel in Hollywood to George Washington Carver in agriculture. Studying each person, how they were raised, the events of their time, the people they met and interacted with, and their personal impact on history helps a child to better cement historical events. Some of these people knew each other which means a child can get a double dose of knowledge about events that changed the face of our country over the years.
Try using biographies as a way to bring history home.
