Summer unit studies

As you know by now, I am an advocate of summer homeschooling. Instead of letting your child's mind stagnate through the summer, why not introduce new units that are engaging and appealing for children who homeschool through the summer?

Research is especially easy in the summer, whether you're researching the side effects of adipo-x or you're researching for a unit study, since you can visit the library in much nicer weather, attend book sales, and, of course, head to the world wide web for articles of interest that focus on whatever unit you are studying at the time.

A good place to start units is free homeschool unit studies by Cindy Downes. She gives you clear instructions for how to implement the units plus lots of great sites where you can find tools and information. In fact, this could prove to be your most useful tool for summer unit studies.
